In 1971 italian musician Fabrizio De André recorded this concept album based on Edgar Lee Masters' Spoon River Anthology. Each track, except the first/prologue, narrates an individual from Spoon River.

De André is well known, among other things, for his beautiful songs and his beautiful lyrics. This album is pleasant guitar music at its best. You could add the art- prefix to that description. Because Non al denaro implements more than just guitar to the mix. It is entertaining and if you happen to know italian, it is good poetry too. But if you don't know the language, don't worry: the album's constant song quality is a big thing.

To highlight a few songs, Un malato di cuore narrates the life and death of a man with heart problems is really touching. Un'ottico is a complex song, lyrically and sonicly, in fact it is quite experimental.

Non al denaro non all'amore né al cielo is classic italian pop music and it succeeds in every possible aspect.
