ALBUM COVER REVIEW: It feels like the album, actually. An original, well composed photograph of a rock and it's shadow in a grass at day. It just can't get better than that, can it?
  • In fabulous pop acoustic chords, "Throw Me a Life Jacket" tells a very sympathetic story, with a characteristical angry voice.
  • "Life" takes the chords to a more sad direction of sound. As in before, guitars and vocals are potent, being acoustic. Very potent and truthful. Even in sadness, the song is a strong of pop.
  • "Afterlife" continous with the theme of sadness with a cool intro. Followed by again a genius aproach of sad, strong, original guitar chords. With the same passion, the chords continue, with agressiveness and tenderness, in a likeable continuando.
  • "Death" is a simpler song, with simpler chords. Instrumentaly speaking. The vocals shine in here, with beautiful lyrics and personality all over the place.
  • "Interlude" is a well deserved rest in the album. Easy-going repetitive riff and a strong of guitar finale.
  • In "Gone" we get a personal sad song of loathing, which is just as good.
  • The ending song "Your Ghost Still Remains" does an amazing job again, with an intimate tale and falsetto chorus. A stunning conclusion.
"A Rock Laid Upon This Frozen Hill" is an album full of sincere rage and self-loathing. It is strong in virtually all of its duration. The lyrics in every song is genius, well narrated and strong. It is important to note that this album is just a demos collection "for what's to come" (Joseph's words), so I'm just amazed. It is an album to be amazed at. All you hear is two guitars and his angry voice, and still it breaks from the normal acoustic scene so brutally.

Joseph Omeluk sings about life, death, hate, love... in an unorthodox fashion, and he nails it in every aspect. Lo-fi gem, and I can't wait for "what's to come".

4/5 stars.
