So since my review, which was at album launchdate, I've seen lots of "excelente, bangers, amazing, beautiful" reviews from music sites on the album (source: Lealani's insta). Which leads: did I not get it, or are they that stupid? At beast, with overratism, this album is scratching average. Or did I really missed something?

ALBUM COVER REVIEW: The sole figure is very colorful and well composed. From dress, to flowers and the bird-like mask. The shadow I find useless and takes art away. The figure being centered, I find that, ironically, un-aestethic. Honestly the whole does not bring a good idea of Fantastic Planet, but it does give idea of the experimental pop sounds of the album.

REVISITED

Intro "Lonely Stars" is haunting. Vocals actually do give personality. It is strong and greatly balanced.

---

"Floating" is a coherent follow-up. Again, well balanced.

DATO CURIOSO: An actual reason of me revisiting this album is, theorically Lealani and I share the similar genre label. Putting this album so high gives me an image of what to expect from current avantpop. But first, I have to "get it", if there's something more to get.

"The Mountain" shows very poor creative electronic backgrounds, and the voice makes it actually worse. As the song goes, it incorporates voices on loop, and after that some more effects, which is an attempt I think to make this "not the average electronic song".

In "Broken", the chorus' pop charm works for a general pop song. I could see any female pop artist singing it. Still, it's enjoyable here. Verses are not so much, nor the bridge.

"The Night" makes me make once again the point that the sonic palet of this album is mono-tinged. Vocals like random thoughts. Percussion is quite lame. Song is boring and annoying.

"Long Stroll". Ok, synth and vocals are wonders. Poppy in its own alien-like vibe. Dances on Fantastic Planet. Banger.

"Slow On The Weekend" quite makes sense. It's a lullaby very weirdly putted. Voices don't quite match the instrumental, but that makes it eeriely coherent. Not the best, but appreciate it.

"Slip Slaughtered" is another party banger playing loud at the forests in Fantastic Planet. It is catchy, it is darkpoppy and cautivating. Definitely a highlight.

At this point, I do feel I'm in Fantastic Planet. In "Seas Of Mars" I feel like staring at the skies, oceans, nature and joy of this planet. The chorus being "earthly" adds nostalgia to the whole unfamiliar comfortness.

"Galant Bloom", as a follow up, fits perfectly. As a song it is not inventative, but in the context, it adds to the atmosphere. Still, the random-sounding keyboards in the middle and ending seem off.

Drums in "Miniscule" are so pleasing. The synths are too. Dubstep in this song still feels off, but not by much. Maybe it's just part of this weird planet.

"All The Fishes Swim Above Me"'s keyboards are somewhat unfitting, and I can't justify unfittingness with "planet weirdness". It's quite annoying. It feels like it tries to be a pleasant lovesong but it ends up being, musically, bad.

"Trees" can be justified as an alien planet's asylum's anthem. The instrumental is interesting. It is the vocals that give this song a very odd vibe that I don't find that enjoyable.

"Little House" falls in vocal quality. Instrumental sounds like average indie guitar psychedelic song, making the song detached so much from the album's theme. A pity, would have prefered "Trees" as the ending. Yes, "Little House" is more enjoyable sonically, but is not part of Fantastic Planet (sorry Lealani, I know how massively wrong this may sound to you. It's how me, average listener, feels like).

---

This is one of those albums with really nice songs and very poor ones. As an album it sadly has inconsistency of quality. Still, there are big bangers. "Lonely Stars", "Floating", "Long Stroll", "Slip Slaughtered", "Seas of Mars" and "Miniscule" are worth listening. Lots of bangers as you can see. But they are not the whole album. I have to recognize and thank the experimentation and fearlessness of some songs in this album.

I'm happy to have revisited this album, and I just love the songs highlighted in the pharagraph above. I hope for Lealani to acknowledge that things could have been better.

2/5 stars.
