I'm not a fan of sad music. In fact, I will not review a sad album unless it's really original and cautivating. That said, I do appreciate melancholic music, which is not the same at all. Melancholic records evoque happy times, not necessarily "happier" times. I find myself listening to this kind of music, or experimental avant-garde stuff, while happy. And that's why I haven't heard any of those musics in a while.

ALBUM COVER REVIEW: I like it. It reflects the album well. A highschool kid's nightmares and thoughts. I like the colours and drawing style. It's raw.

"You're Living All Over Me" is a classic album by Dinosaur Jr. band. I've heard a pair of songs from them, before. I don't remember them well. I don't know if this album is melancholic or straight sad, or a mix of both.
  • "Little Fury Things" has many sections of pop melancholic arrangements, which are beautiful to listen to. As an intro is fearless and brilliant. Singer's voice is on point, soft and sincere.
  • "Kracked"'s guitar riffs are powerful, and the songs makes for a good radio hit for its genre.
  • On "Sludgefeast", various sections take presence again, and in roughness and popness, it all plays very well.
  • In "The Lung" we get guitar pop and sounds OK.
  • "Raisans" is more of the same sound, to be honest.
  • "Tarpit" is monotonous, except for the noisy effects that come as the song progresses.
  • "In A Jar" is a good song, as the rest of the album really. I don't see anything remarkable in any of this songs, apart from some starters. It's frustrating. It all is noisy rock guitars with noisy rock ideas. Which are fine, but, that's it.
  • At this point I'm bored of same sounds. "Lose" is, meh.
  • I'm regretting trying this.
  • "Poledo" is a change of rythm, with acoustic guitars and a middle-eastian vibe with coom lead guitar moments. And it ends in under 2 minutes. What folows is what makes 60% of Bandcamp's "lo-fi" tag. I get that for the time this effects would have been innovative. The song is still good, though.
I think this album is so fucking overrated. It is not bad. It is good. But that's it. The sound is almost literally the same through the whole, except for the "Poledo" outro cool acoustic rest, which depressingly is super short. I get it. For it's time it was a very raw album. It feels sincere and potent, but the lack of shifting on sounds and just a few cool ideas do not make this album a classic of any sort. It is good pop, enjoyable. Above average? I think this kind of quality is the standard for any band that wants to survive nowadays as a rock band. "Little Fury Things", "Sludgefeast" and "Poledo" were refreashing, with "Little Fury Things" being def above average. Same can't be said of the rest.

It's good rough guitar pop with good ideas, but not much of them.

2/5 stars.
